Now that we’re entering Fall of 2007, here are five things that the smart career professional or entrepreneur should check off their to-do list:
Review your goals. Are you on track with the goals you had set for yourself at the beginning of the year? Are these goals still valid?
Review what you’ve achieved. If you are a career professional, you should have a written track record of your achievements. This comes in handy during performance evaluations with your boss. If you are an entrepreneur, look at your business performance thus far. This comes in handy when you formulate 2008 targets.
Review feedback received. One of the best ways to gauge the impact that you have as a professional or entrepreneur is to look at both solicited and unsolicited feedback – from clients, customers, and colleagues.
Review what you’ve learned. Did you take any classes? Attended professional seminars? Have you put into practice what you’ve learned, or did those tools and tips fade from use 2 weeks after you leave the course? One of the best ways to gauge your return on education is to look at how much you’ve integrated in your daily practice.
Review Your Relationships. Take the pulse of your network and make sure key relationships are healthy. Reconnect with old colleagues or refresh your network relationships with a phone call or an email. You don’t want to wait until you “need something” to get in touch with someone.
What additional things do you want to check off on your To-Do list before 2007 ends?
