Believe it or not, one of the most popular reasons why people visit my site is to figure out the fear of success.
Not fear of FAILURE.
Fear of SUCCESS.
People who are afraid of success. Afraid to succeed!
So if you came here trying to understand why on earth there would be people who seem so afraid of something that the other camp (fearers of failure) appear so desperate to achieve, let me explain it from a personal point of view.
Let me tell you why some of us fear SUCCESS.
The higher we climb, the more precarious the fall.
Sometimes we trip right in front of ourselves; we get back up with scrapes and cuts.
Sometimes we fall hard and far enough to break a limb.
Sometimes we escape barely with our lives.
…Then sometimes we fall to our death.
We are afraid of success, because we are afraid to die.
That includes even the experience of death (oh the pain, the pain).
(Oh, not to mention, the higher we climb, the smaller the number of companions who would accompany us, and the greater likelihood that when we fall, we may very well end up dying alone.)
